Good morning, This is Topher from Washington Church of Christ bringing you a Message Minute and wishing you God’s blessings in the new year!  In just a few short moments I’ll be making the hour drive to Paoli Peaks with many area home education students, including my two elder children and their friends. 

Yes, it’s Monday, which means I have a monstrous to-do list.  Yes, it’s the beginning of the week, which means I’m feeling the stress and pressure of my professional goals and desires for our church.  Yes, I am a driven and goal oriented person who thrives off constantly being busy.  Many of you are just like me.

But today I’m setting it all aside to invest time in my children; to laugh, to play, to throw snowballs, and to cheer my kids on as they start doing jumps, bumps, and taking lumps that I’m too chicken to try.

For all you driven and goal oriented people out there, Colossians 3:21 has simple wisdom for us, “Parents, do not exasperate your children, or else they will become discouraged.”  On your Monday “To-Do” list, why don’t you plan a time in the near future of 2017 to focus on your top priorities, your family. Invest an entire day setting aside all other goals and encourage the ones that you love.  You’ll be glad you did.
