Good morning, this is Topher from Washington Church of Christ bringing you a Message Minute.

Short sleeves and barefoot?  Can you believe it is January 12th in Southern Indiana and I just walked outside in a short sleeve shirt and barefoot?  I know, for some of you it is irritating to see the weather swing like a pendulum on a grandfather clock.  It affects your mood, it affects your bones, it affects your allergies, and it is in general not a fun time.

For today’s positive encouragement, I’d like to ask you, for the sake of all of us, try to find some joy in it.  James the brother of Jesus said, What is your life?  "For you are just a vapor that appears a for a little while and then vanishes." (James 4:14)  What I gather from that is that whether you are in snow boots or barefoot, it will really only last a short time.  Again James (1-2) says, “Take joy my brothers when you face trials of many kinds.”  What I surmise when I put these verses together, one near the beginning and one near the end of his letter, is that it is wise to try to be joyful, because these moments in life are all too short.

Have you got an encouraging message minute idea?  Send me a tweet, snap, or instagram to @topherwiles, and don’t forget to change your day by finding something to be joyful about this morning and go enjoy your day, no matter what the weather brings.  You’ll be glad you did.

Message Minutes are sponsored by  Washington Church of Christ and recorded for the public 107.9 The Memories WAMW morning radio program.  They air at approximately 7:35am on Weekday Mornings.
