Good morning, this is Topher, and Ashley, from Washington Church of Christ bringing you a Message Minute.

Four weeks men, that's all you've got till Valentine's day!  That's a good amount of time if all you're planning is to pick out a box of chocolates, but consider the wisdom Paul gives to husbands.

- Ephesians 5:25 says " Husbands love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her."

Well, that sounds like a tall order for Valentine's day.  Yeah, it is if you try to cram that much sacrifice into one single day. But I don't think Paul intended the whole "love your wife as Christ loved the church" as a one holiday event.   Sacrifice for your spouse  is an every day endeavor.

Men, don't wait till Valentine's Day; answer God's call by showing love to your wife today.  Write her an encouraging note, wash the dishes unasked, or rub her shoulders when she's had a long day.  If you're really motivated, start the 40 day Love Dare today and by the time Valentine's Day hits you'll have those sacrificial love habits ingrained.

Whatever you do, do something that requires effort for your wife, and do it often, not out of obligation, but out of love.  You'll be glad you did.

P.S. Men, the 40 Day Love Dare comes from the movie Fireproof.  You can download a .pdf copy of the idea by clicking this link: 40 DAY LOVE DARE.
